Position: Child and Youth Participation Programme Intern
Location: Bangkok, Thailand
Starting date: January 2016
Duration: Six Months
Reports to: Global Coordinator for Children’s Participation
Grading: INTERN
OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE INTERNSHIP
The ECPAT International internship programme is designed to provide an opportunity to eligible candidates to contribute to and learn about child protection issues, particularly children’s rights to live free of commercial sexual exploitation. Interns are eligible to participate in the ECPAT International Secretariat activities. Interns are expected to carry out the duties assigned to them under the responsibility of the designated supervisor(s).
PRIMARY TASKS
- Provide overall support to the Global Coordinator on Children’s Participation to implement the Child & Youth Participation Programme “Giving Voice to Victims of CSEC”
Specific Responsibilities include:
Support Global Coordinator in implementation of the Victims Bill of Rights project, including communication with Network member and partners, coordination of the translations into other languages, development of the project documentation
Support ECPAT International Child and Youth Advisory Committee (EICYAC) through regular communication in English, Spanish and French using virtual platforms, individual communication, consulting on thematic issues, design and implementation of micro initiatives; organizing capacity building for EICAYC members through the online meetings; preparing relevant materials in English, French and Spanish
Support Global Coordinator in mid-term assessment of the new consultative model with children and survivors in ECPAT organizational governance through renewed EICYAC
Support Global Coordinator in managing the data bases related to EICYAC
Support Global Coordinator in the work with regional institutions to promote victims’/survivors’ right to be heard and taken into consideration in the various international/regional/national mechanisms and platforms
Support the development of the publications, e.g. Access to Justice Research reports, Youth friendly version of the Global Study on SECTT report etc.
Assist in preparation of technical papers, the PowerPoint, Prezi, meeting notes etc.
QUALIFICATIONS
Essential
· Master’s degree in law, human rights or international development with relevant work experience
· Excellent English (both writing and oral) is necessary for this position
· Advanced knowledge of Spanish and French language
· Excellent communication skills
· Strong writing skills
· Ability to synthesize large amounts of information into concise formats
· Good knowledge of computer applications including virtual platforms, Prezi etc.
INTERNSHIP CONDITIONS
A modest stipend of 10,000 Bath/month (around $285 USD) will be made available to the intern who is not sponsored by other organizations or institutions. All other costs related to the internship, i.e., travel, passport, visa or living costs in Bangkok, are to be borne by the intern or his/her sponsoring institution or organization.
